Flight booking checklist for UAE travellers

1. Record every traveller exactly

For each passenger, have the full name exactly as it appears on the travel document. Also note whether the traveller is an adult, child or infant and share the date of birth when the fare or airline requires it.

• Full name exactly as shown on the passport or accepted travel document
• Date of birth and passenger type
• Nationality and passport expiry date
• Any mobility, medical, meal or assistance request

Check the spelling yourself before ticketing. Name corrections may be restricted or chargeable depending on the airline and fare.

2. Define dates, airports and flexibility

Share your preferred departure and return dates, plus any acceptable alternatives. In the UAE, also say whether you can use Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or another suitable airport.

• Origin and destination city or airport
• One-way, return or multi-city itinerary
• Preferred travel dates and acceptable date range
• Direct flight preference or acceptable connection length
• Earliest departure and latest arrival you can accept

3. Decide what baggage and seating you need

A lower displayed fare may exclude checked baggage, seat selection or other services. Ask for the total that matches what you will actually use.

• Number and approximate weight of checked bags
• Cabin baggage needs
• Sports equipment, stroller or other special items
• Seat preferences and whether paid selection is acceptable

4. Compare the conditions, not only the price

Before choosing an option, ask what is included and what happens if your plan changes. The useful comparison is the total journey and its conditions.

• Total price and currency, including disclosed taxes and fees
• Baggage allowance for every flight segment
• Change and cancellation conditions
• No-show conditions
• Connection airports, terminal changes and transit requirements
• How long the quoted price or booking hold remains valid

5. Complete a final check before paying

1. Match every passenger name against the travel document.
2. Confirm the route, dates, local departure times and airports.
3. Review baggage and fare conditions in writing.
4. Check passport validity and the latest entry or transit requirements with the relevant official authority.
5. Pay only through the agreed business payment channel and keep the receipt.
6. After ticketing, review the ticket or itinerary immediately and report any discrepancy.
